Work and study certificates

People who are going through gender reassignment need new work and study certificates.

Recommendation of the Ombudsman for Equality and occupational safety and health authorities , issued 15.06.2010

With gender reassignment it is important to update work and study certificates so that they match the person's new name and personal identity code.

Using old certificates for job and student applications exposes people who are in the process of gender reassignment to discrimination prohibited in the Equality Act and violates their privacy.

The Ombudsman for Equality and occupational safety and health authorities recommend that employers provide their employees who are in the process of gender reassignment with new work certificates with their new personal information. The employer can verify the personal information using the official certificate, for example.
