Appeal against the decision regarding the appointment of an official
When a person is selected for a state or municipal position, a decision is made regarding his or her appointment to the position. As a general rule, an appeal may be lodged against the decision of an authority regarding the appointment of an official. Pursuant to the issuing of the appointment decision, the authority must also issue instructions for an appeal.
The right of appeal against the decision to appoint a municipal official is provided for in Act on Local Government Officials (Laki kunnallisesta viranhaltijasta 304/2003, Finlex-database, this Act is only in Finnish or Swedish).
The regulations contained within the Local Government Act are applicable when lodging an appeal.
