Gender impact assessment

One useful tool in the preparatory work of authorities is gender impact assessment. In this case, the impact of a project or measure on different genders is assessed in advance. For example, in legislative projects or when deciding on budget and savings measures, it can be ensured in advance that the measures will not have a discriminatory gender impact and that the implementation of the agreed measures will promote gender equality.

Gender impact assessment allows decision-makers to have sufficient information on different options and their consequences. The aim is not only informed decision-making, but also a more equal outcome.
